Over the last three years I have been intentional in knowing and learning more about my Haiti. I've been reading and visiting. It is complicated to say the least but I am super optimistic. I believe in us and our ability to Avanse Ansanm!
I love being Haitian. I love our people, our food, our music, our culture, and what our beautiful flag represents. Our flag is a representation of Black Independence. It's a slap in the face of slavery and colonialism. We are far from perfect but we deserve to celebrate. Happy Flag Day my Haitian people. Happy Flag Day Black Diaspora. |
